Our monthly series, “Comma”, which is curated by local writer Kirsten Rian, will feature Scott Nadelson and Don Colburn. Scott Nadelson is the author of three story collections (most recently Aftermath, published by Hawthorne Books in 2011). Winner of the Oregon Book Award, the Reform Judaism Fiction Prize, and the Great Lakes Colleges Association New Writers Award, he teaches at Willamette University and in the Rainier Writing Workshop MFA Program at Pacific Lutheran University. His first book of nonfiction, The Next Scott Nadelson: A Life in Progress, will be published in 2013. Don Colburn is a longtime newspaper reporter who did not start writing poetry until he was nearly forty. He worked for many years at The Washington Post and The Oregonian, and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in feature writing. His many honors include the Discovery/The Nation Award, the Finishing Line Press Poetry Prize, the Duckabush Prize for Poetry and a recent fellowship at The MacDowell Colony. He is a board member of Friends of William Stafford.
