BK Loren will be here to read from her first novel, Theft (Counterpoint Press). In this remarkable debut, Willa Robbins, a master tracker living in the American Southwest, is recruited by the Colorado police to find Zeb, a confessed murderer who is also her brother. She knows that skill alone will not sustain her. Willa is thrown back into her past and flooded with childhood memories. Trekking through exquisite New Mexico and Colorado landscapes, with Zeb two steps ahead and the police two steps behind, she must wrangle her desire to reunite with her brother and her own guilt about their violent past. This is a story about family, about loss, and about a search for answers. BK Loren currently teaches writing at Chatham University’s low-residency program, the Iowa Summer Writing Festival, and other venues. She lives with her partner, two dogs, and two cats in Colorado.
