For the first time since 1977 -- and the eleventh time in the history of the Fiction award -- the judges for Fiction for the Pulitzer Prize could not agree on a winner, so no prize for fiction was awarded this year. The three finalists are listed below. Winners and finalists for History, Biography, Poetry, and General Nonfiction are also listed below, with the winners listed first. Last year's Pulitzer winners were A Visit from the Goon Squad by Jennifer Egan (Fiction), Washington: A Life by Ron Chernow (Biography), The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer by Siddhartha Mukherjee (General Nonfiction), The Fiery Trial: Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery by Eric Foner (History), and The Best of It: New and Selected Poems by Kay Ryan. You can read about all of this year's Pulitzer Prize winners and finalists, including the journalism prizes, at the Pulitzer site.
