Broadway Books Book Club: Pachinko
We had such positive response to our first book club get-together in May, we thought we’d host another this fall. Join us on Sunday, October 7th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm for our second meeting of the Broadway Books Book Club. We invite you to discuss a specific book, enjoy some libations, and end the evening sharing some of our favorite new reads. We'll also have some book swag to give away! The event is free; we just ask that you RSVP either at the store or to events@broadwaybooks.net so we set up enough chairs.
The book we have selected for this book club discussion was a National Book Award Finalist and the New York Times Notable Books for 2017. Pachinko, by Min Jin Lee, follows three generations of one Korean family living in 20th century Japan. Richly told and profoundly moving, Pachinko is a story of love, sacrifice, ambition, and loyalty. From bustling street markets to the halls of Japan's finest universities to the pachinko parlors of the criminal underworld, Lee's complex and passionate characters survive and thrive against the indifferent arc of history. We will be offering 20% off this title until October 7th.
