Laura O. Foster: Columbia Gorge Getaways
Broadway Books is thrilled to welcome back author Laura O. Foster, presenting her new guidebook Columbia Gorge Getaways, on Tuesday, October 4th at 7 pm.
Columbia Gorge Getaways is a complete guidebook to the Columbia River Gorge, an 80-mile-long chasm that’s one of the nation’s few National Scenic Areas. The book outlines a year’s worth of weekend-long adventures in and around the Columbia River Gorge’s historic towns on both sides of the river, describing all the ways to have a blast in the gorge – from beaches to back roads, historic downtowns, hiking and biking routes, shopping, brewpubs and wineries, rural inns, historic sites, and museums.
An all-Oregon team created this book: maps by Matthew Hampton of Cascade Cartography; design by Brad Smith and Etah Chen of Hot Pepper Studios; edits by Jenefer Angell of Passionfruit Projects, printing by Bob Smith of Book Printers Network; and text and photos by Laura O. Foster, who has been writing Pacific Northwest guidebooks since 2001.
Foster writes about Portland and the Pacific Northwest. Her books take readers on explorations of the region’s geology, architecture, neighborhoods, parklands, and human and natural history. She is also the author of Portland Hill Walks, Portland City Walks, The Portland Stairs Book, and the new northeast Portland guide, Walking with Ramona.
