Thursday, September 13 at 7 pm - Special Ticketed Event: Occupy Broadway Books: Bedtime Stories for Grown-Ups, featuring Lidia Yuknavitch, Chelsea Cain, and Chuck Palahniuk. Three dear friends have cooked up a kick-ass evening that we’re sure will live forever in the minds of all who attend. In celebration of Lidia Yuknavitch’s new novel, Dora: A Headcase, we are hosting an event starring Ms. Yuknavitch and her two partners-in-crime, Chelsea Cain and Chuck Palahniuk.
This adults-only event will include prizes, live music, adult beverages, potentially (probably) offensive language and subject matter, and much, much more. Ralph Huntley -- band director of OPB’s LiveWire! -- will provide music. The authors request that, in the spirit of bedtime stories, attendees dress in sleepwear. The first fifty people who arrive in sleeping attire will be presented with a giant stuffed animal courtesy of Mr. Palahniuk. In keeping with the slumber party theme, we'll be sitting on pillows on the floor rather than in chairs. We may turn out the lights and read by flashlight. All who attend will receive various uber cool goodies, including a signed copy of Dora. Our three authors will read from the raunchiest, scariest, or most shocking passages from their books. Leave the kids at home!
We will be selling tickets for this event, and because we want to keep it cozy, we are limiting the number of tickets we sell to 100. Consequently, we expect to sell out quickly. Tickets are $20 if purchased at our store or over the phone (503-284-1726). Tickets purchased online are $22. Tickets will be available for purchase, while they last, beginning at 10 am on Thursday, September 6. Limit: 6 tickets per customer. No refunds.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see these three outrageous, talented, and entertaining authors in an intimate -- and thoroughly fun -- setting.
