Rene Denfeld in Conversation with Jenny Forrester
Rene Denfeld's newest novel, The Child Finder, has been taking the reading world by storm, and we couldn't be happier. We are thrilled to be hosting Rene tonight, in conversation with one of our favorite memoirists, Jenny Forrester.
The book introduces us to private investigator Naomi Cottle ("the child finder"), who is tasked with finding Madison Culver, who disappeared three years ago at age five while looking for a Christmas tree with her family in an Oregon forest. Naomi has a reputation for being relentless in her investigations, even in seemingly hopeless cases, and she is simultaneously trying to unravel mysteries in her own past. Her tireless efforts are devoted to proving that “no matter how far you have run, no matter how long you have been lost, it is never too late to be found.” The Child Finder is a riveting literary page-turner about redemption, the line between reality and memories and dreams, and the human capacity to survive. Rene's first novel was the breathtakingly beautiful book The Enchanted.
Rene will be joined this evening by Jenny Forrester, whose memoir Narrow River, Wide Sky, was published to great acclaim in May by Hawthorne Books, one of our favorite publishers.
