Willy Vlautin and Patterson Hood
Typically we don't host author events in the store in December, because we are so PLUMP with books and other gifts for the holidays. But when we get a chance to host Willy Vlautin, we say YES, PLEASE. And when Willy says Patterson Hood is available to read with him we say HELL, YEAH!
WillyVlautin is a singer/songwriter (Richmond Fontaine, The Delines) and novelist. He is the author of four novels: The Motel Life, Northline, Lean on Pete, and The Free. Lean on Pete and The Free both won People's Choice Awards in the Oregon Book Awards, and Lean on Pete won the Ken Kesey Award for Fiction. Born and raised in Reno, Neveda, Vlautin now lives in Scappoose. Patterson Hood is also a singer/songwriter, and the founder of the band The Drive-By Truckers. He was born in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and recently relocated to Portland from Athens, Georgia.
Both of these authors have pieces in the newly released anthology of "car noir," The Highway Kind: Tales of Fast Cars, Desperate Drivers, and Dark Roads, and Willy has a piece in the new anthology Crime Plus Music, a book of music-themed noir.
We are thrilled to welcome both Patterson and Willy to the store to read and chat and laugh and who knows what else. We hope you'll join us!
