We are thrilled to be partnering once again with Literary Arts and other independent booksellers in Portland for this year's Portland Book Festival! Because of COVID-19, this year's festival will take place entirely online. The good news is that almost all of the programming will be free, and the festival has been extended to multiple days, offering online author events between November 5th and 21st. The festival will feature more than one hundred authors -- local and global -- writing in a multiple genres and for a variety of ages.
Only a handful of events require purchase of a book to attend. We are hosting Jacqueline Winspear (of Maisie Dobbs fame) with her new memoir, This Time Next Year We'll be Laughing, in partnership with the PBF. Ticket sales for this virtual event on Wednesday, November 18th, will be announced on our website in early October. Powell's is hosting three authors in book/ticket pages: Margaret Atwood, Jess Walter, and Isabel Wilkerson. You can check out Powell's website for more information on those events.
While the bulk of the events are free to attend, we encourage you to support the indie bookstores selling books for these events, Broadway Books, Annie Bloom's, Green Bean Books, and Powell's, by purchasing the authors' books from these stores. The fine folks at Literary Arts have once again put together a spectacular line-up of authors for this year's festival. The PBF also includes several writing workshops; you can read about them at this link. If you would like to support the work Literary Arts does, including future book festivals, we encourage you to make a tax-free donation at their website.
Below you will find a list of the authors participating in this years Portland Book Festival, presented alphabetically.
